"A soldier doesn't fight because he hates what is in front of him. A soldier fights because he loves what he left behind." - unknown

"God is our refuge and strength. He will protect us and make us strong" (ps 46:1). For those who will fly today, for those who are there now, and for those who will soon join the fight, Lord, shield them from all evil, strengthen their hearts, and bring them home safely.

What did you say?

In the army life we spit out acronyms like they are our children's names. Most of the time we don't always realize we are doing it. I try not to use too many acronyms but here are a few good ones to know ...

FOB - Forward Operating Base (where service-members live while deployed)
FRG - Family Readiness Group (An organization that assists families of soldiers, gives information, helps boost morale)
ACU - Army Combat Uniform (the "camo" they wear)
TDY - Temporary Duty
PL - platoon leader
R&R - the 15 days of leave a soldier receives (I believe if they are ordered to deploy for 9 months or longer)

Please feel free to add any that I missed or to ask what something means.

  5. OPSEC (please see attached link)

Goodness me how important this is! I am attaching a link that gives a good explanation of it. It was the list of rules I could find. Please post another one if you find a better one.

Basically, be careful what you say. Just because something isn't "secret" doesn't mean it is okay for the world to see. Facebook can say ALOT - so be careful what you put out there.
